What to see and do
Adriatic paradise
Dubrovnik is UNESCO World Heritage and one of the world's best-preserved medieval cities. The 2km walls surrounding the Old City offer incomparable Adriatic views. Stradun, the main street, has baroque palaces and cafes in the historic heart. From Dubrovnik you can day trip to Elafiti Islands, Mostar (Bosnia), or Kotor (Montenegro). World-famous as King's Landing in Game of Thrones.
Where to stay
Old City for the complete historic experience (expensive but incomparable). Lapad for more affordable options with frequent buses to center. Gruž for authentic port atmosphere. Cavtat for more tranquility 20km from the airport.
Getting around
The Old City is completely walkable (2km long). Libertas buses connect all neighborhoods. The cable car ascends to Mount Srd for the best views. Old Port ferries go to Lokrum and Elafiti Islands. Airport is 20km away — Atlas taxi or bus.

The walls
Do the walls circuit early (8:00) or at sunset to avoid heat and crowds. The most impressive medieval fortification walk in Europe.
Cruise tourists
Dubrovnik receives up to 15 cruise ships daily in summer. Visit the Old City before 9:00 or after 18:00 to avoid the hordes.
Game of Thrones
Free and paid tours cover GoT filming locations. Lovrijenac Fortress was the Red Keep. Very popular but fun.
Gastronomy
Prstaci (date mussels)
Adriatic rock mussels with white wine and garlic. The most authentic local specialty at fish restaurants.
Crni Rižot
Black risotto with squid ink. The most famous Dalmatian dish, intense with deep sea flavor.
Rozata
