What to see and do
New York: the infinite city
New York is a world in one city. Each neighborhood is like a different city. Manhattan concentrates the icons: Times Square, Central Park, the Empire State, and the Metropolitan Museum. But don't stop there: cross to Brooklyn for the bridge, DUMBO, and Williamsburg. Visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island to connect with American history. The High Line is an elevated park on former train tracks with public art and Hudson views.
Where to stay
Midtown for first-timers (close to everything). East Village for nightlife and restaurants. Brooklyn (Williamsburg) for alternative and more affordable. Chelsea for art galleries and the High Line. Lower East Side for history and authenticity.
Getting around
The subway runs 24/7 and connects all of Manhattan and the boroughs. MetroCard reload or OMNY contactless payment. Yellow taxis are iconic but the subway is faster at rush hour. Walking is the best way to discover the city. NYC Ferry is cheap with incredible views.
