Prague: the golden city

Prague is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe. The Castle dominates the city from Hradčany Hill. Charles Bridge, with its 30 baroque statues, connects the Old Town with the Lesser Town. Old Town Square's Astronomical Clock marks the hours with a figure spectacle. Jewish quarter Josefov has Europe's oldest functioning synagogue. Lesser Town (Malá Strana) offers baroque palaces and gardens.

Where to stay

Old Town (Staré Město) to be in the historic heart. Lesser Town for romance near the castle. Vinohrady for local atmosphere and excellent restaurants. Žižkov for the most authentic and affordable version. Holešovice for design and art galleries.

Getting around

The Czech metro is efficient, clean, and cheap (3 lines). Trams cover the entire city and are part of the charm. The historic center is perfectly walkable. The 24h (124 CZK) or 72h (330 CZK) transport card is the best option for tourists.
